Während dieses Fensters ist die gesamte Fertigung auf das jeweilige Modell gerüstet. Bei den vielen Modellen können wir ja nicht alles kreuz und quer durcheinander bauen, also wir könnten schon, aber das wäre uneffizient. Bei stark gefragten Modellen sind die Abstände der Produktionsfenster kleiner, bei seltenen Modellen größer. In jedem Produktionsfenster gibt es eine feste Anzahl an Rahmen, die gebaut werden können, das sind die freien Produktionsplätze. Bekomme ich eine Rahmenbestellung, setze ich sie in den nächsten, freien Produktionsplatz für dieses Modell. Bekomme ich die Bestellung kurz vor dem Fenster des Modells, ist die Laufzeit kurz, vielleicht 3 bis 4 Wochen. Bekomme ich die Bestellung nachdem das Modell gerade produziert wurde oder nachdem alle freien Plätze vergeben sind, rutscht der Rahmen ins nächste Produktionsfenster, bzw. auf den nächsten freien Platz. Dann kann es ein paar Wochen länger dauern. Die Laufzeiten haben sich aber insgesamt stark verkürzt, und wenn ich mir einen Anzug beim Schneider nähen lasse, dauert es ja auch ein bisschen länger, als wenn ich ihn mir beim Textil-Diskont hole. Das jetzt nur mal so als Beispiel, also nicht, dass ich Anzüge trage, lieber unsere N-Dots Klamotten . We schedule our production three months in advance. During this period there is at least one production slot for each model. Within the individual slots, all production is for one particular model. This is the only way to do it when we have this many models in our range – it would not be very efficient any other way. For our top sellers the gap between two slots is shorter, and for the less demanded the gap is longer. In each production slot a fixed number of frames can be built, and this is the free pro- duction capacity. If I receive a frame order then I put it into the next available slot with free capacity for that particular model. If the time gap to the slot is short, then you may only be waiting 3 or 4 weeks, but If the order is placed right after a production slot, or the next production run is already full then the order moves to the next free slot. That could make a few more weeks of waiting. Over all we have been working to reduce lead times over the last year but think of it like this: when I buy a bespoke tailored suit then it surely takes longer than one I get from the local shopping mall.
