we build wir bauen Custom made love story T his year we also teamed up with our customers to work on a very interesting project for custom-made frames. The projects were around various exciting ION 16 constructions with a wide variety of applications including a 27.5” tandem for All Mountain riding. Such a custom-made projects can be so innovative and run so successfully that they flow seamlessly into series production. This is the case with the ION 15. The customer’s ideas initialise a custom-made frame. They establish all the requirements of the frame, geometry, intended use and handling and in the end they receive the individual frame they desire. A ‘custom-made customer’ is comparable to a good product manager. Particularly in the international context, they help us better understand the demands of a custom-made frame on the local market. During the technical implementation of such projects we rely on our 18 years of know how in the sport and we give everything to make the customers’ dreams come true. Quality, security and durability is also a top priority in our custom-made frames. When the international customer comes to Lübbrechtsen to collect his bike and seals the deal with a lap on the local trails, it can be defined as an extraordinarily successful product. The building of a custom ION 15 also gave us the idea for an ION with 29” wheels to test out in house. After testing on various circuits at the end of the workday and enduro races, the bike is now available to everyone without the custom- made surcharge. A 27.5” ION 16 for use as a downhill bike in Singapore, a singletrail rocket with 130mm rear travel and a 27.5” wheel to trail robbers on Cote D’Azur or an ION 16 with an extremely lowered top tube for the shorter of our species. Who knows what materialises from this custom-made frame project. in QLF-Tal
