45 It’s been a race against time to go live with our secret project in time for the latest catalogue launch. The tried and tested HELIUS-AC platform has been coupled with the GPI drivetrain concept of Gates Carbon Drive and Pinion gearbox. The main advantages are a low and central point of gravity plus an extremely quiet, low-maintenance drivetrain. Beyond that, the Pinion gearbox can be shifted while pedalling, standing, coasting and even in the air. The combination of rear suspension and GATES drive seemed impossible a few years ago, but we would not be NICOLAI if we didn’t look for the impossible and do it anyway. A spring- loaded roller guide with a relatively large radius allows the GATES belt to bend smoothly in two directions. The „S-bend“ is the prerequisite of a faultless drivetrain and neutral suspension. <e>
